DAY 1

Arrival in Tana

Firstly, upon arrival at Ivato airoport, an English-speaking I Travel 2 Madagascar guide will accompany you to your hotel in town. So, before going to adventure in Morondava, you visit Capital. Tana as the locals call it, has fascinating traditional architecture and a more Indonesian influence than the rest of Madagascar. Then, explore the historic upper town of Antananarivo, with its stunning French-inspired architecture. The journey then continues downtown for lunch.

DAY 2

Antananarivo - Morondava

 Adventure in Morondava, after breakfast, a guide from I Travel 2 Madagascar will accompany you to the airport for your Air Madagascar flight to Morondava.  It lies in the heart of Sakalava territory and is known for its elaborately sculpted woodern royal tombs.  Then, check in to your hotel for lunch and enjoy a tour of the city before driving to the Avenue of the Baobabs (2hrs). So, opportunity for a beautiful sunset among the Adansonia Grandidieri. One of the largest species of baobab out of the seven present in Madagascar.

DAY 3

Morondava-Kirindy Private Reserve

After morning meal, meet with your local accompagnator. Then, drive 50km to the northeast of Morondava to the kirindy Reserve. A private forest, known as the best place in Madagascar to observe the elusive Fosa.  So, it is also home to the very cute Madagascar Giant Jumping Rat, endemic to this forest. Then, 8 lemur species including Madame Berthe's mouse lemur, which is endemic to Kirindy. Moreover, Birdwatchers will enjoy the 70 bird species including the rare White-Breasted Mesite. In addition, the landscape is dry deciduous forest interspersed with towering baobab trees. Also, three out of the island's seven baobab species are found here. Finally, after a picnic lunch, drive back to Morondava with a stop at the "Avenue des baobabs" for sunset.

 

DAY 4

Morondava

To start, after meeting your local guide, head to Betania, the fishing village located in Morondava, where you can also see how a pirogue is constructed.  Besides, the pirogue is a wooden dugout canoe used by Malagasy fishermen when fishing in the open sea. Additionally, you'll be having a picnic lunch and then heading back to your hotel in the afternoon. 

DAY 5

Morondava - Out

In the end, fly back to Tana with Air Madagascar scheduled flight. So, on arrival, you will be met by I Travel 2 Madagascar staff, then transferred to your outbound international flight.
